TGIS Datacentre Issues Resolved

Sincere apologies for the patchy connectivity to systems and services within our Slough Data Centre over the last three days. Our telephone lines have been extremely busy as well and, even though we drafted in additional people to answer incoming calls, we were not able to accomodate all without some going to voicemail.

The Situation
We had two major perimeter firewalls fail at the same time which has caused major downtime while we installed and configured new units to replace those that failed. Although dual firewall failure is not unheard of, it is extremely rare and unfortunately it has caused a tremendous amount of angst and concern for our customers. Please be assured that things are now returned to normal. This is the only episode of this kind we've had in 21 years of service to customers and we now have put in place a third backup unit to ensure this never happens again.
